Step 1 prepare the lysis solution that breaks the cells lose from the strawberry and pops open the membrane of the cells to release the DNA strands

Lysis solution

Step 1
Prepare lysys solution
50 ml water
salt 1 g
3 ml hand soap


Step 2
Mush the berry or the source of DNA in a small container like a beaker.

Step 3
Add about the same volume - 20 ml of lysis buffer and incubate for 5 minutes.

Step 4
Lightly wet the filter and put it over a funnel going into the container. Squish the filter and discard bigger pieces.

Step 5
Very slowly add -20 Celsius cold alcohol in a 5 mm layer over the lysate. That is about 7 ml alcohol but you can add more. Wait for about 10 min

Step 6
Observe that between the top layer of alcohol and the bottom layer of pink color some spiderweb like strands start developing. That is the tangled DNA

Step 7
Using a toothpick you can pull out the strands to look at
